With community solar,
you can lower your annual electricity costs and help reduce carbon emissions.
What is Community Choice Solar?
By pooling local demand, municipalities can leverage the collective purchasing power of local residents and small businesses in effort to negotiate more favorable terms, lower costs, increase consumer protection, support renewable generation, and access the benefits of solar by subscribing to a local solar farm. When a community choice program launches, all qualifying residents and businesses are automatically enrolled on an opt out basis. Unless they choose to exit the program, participants receive the benefits that their municipality negotiated on their behalf. Those wishing to opt out may do so at any time with no cost.

How It Works
A program administrator works with participating municipalities and local organizers to identify program priorities and solicit proposals from qualified solar project managers on behalf of community residents and small businesses. A community choice program will only launch when a proposal meets the requirements identified by the program administrator and participating communities.
